Last week driving to work, I looked up just in time to see a small group of kids standing atop a pedestrian overpass across the highway. Each kid held a brightly-colored balloon, silhouetted against the morning sun - a vibrant rainbow vigil to passing commuters. That brief image really stuck with me, so I wanted to try to capture it in a painting - especially as words failed me in the days following the tragedy in Orlando.
