Lately I've been trying to be much more methodical in constructing a scene. If it's an illustration I'll storyboard and value comp it first... then just build element-by-element like this. Which totally goes against what I learned - to work the whole scene up gradually across the image... but I guess that's okay? Probably less so for more illustrative work.
