I read Paolo Bacigalupi’s The Water Knife recently and thought it’d be fun to paint a cinematic title key for the story, based on an early scene in the book.

The book can be pretty chilling, but I enjoyed it - and I love the scenery of the southwest! I tried to find an interesting mood and palette to reflect the setting of the book without resorting to that typical high-exposure, desaturated, dry kind of look.
